NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers baseball team (13-9) will play the first game of the Pelican Cup on Tuesday when they host the Tulane Green Wave (16-8-1). First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Maestri Field. The Privateers will also play a Wednesday game against the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns at the same time slot.

Anthony Herron Jr. co-leads the nation in sacrifice flies with six. Herron has 23 RBI on the season and is one of four Privateers with three home runs.

Blake Dean is 8-4 against Tulane in his tenure at New Orleans. The Privateers have won the Pelican Cup back-to-back seasons in 2018-19 and went 5-1 in that stretch against the Green Wave.
-There was one meeting between the two sides last season that Tulane won 7-1 on Feb. 23, 2021. Tulane has won back-to-back meetings against the Privateers entering the week.
-Defensively, the Privateers have a .977 fielding percentage which is first in the Southland and ranks 42
nd in the nation.

Jack Williams is 4-0 on the season in six relief appearances. Williams threw five innings in the series opener against Northwestern State and has averaged over two innings per appearance (14 total innings).
-New Orleans has three walk-off wins this season after they added their most recent in the series opener against Northwestern State.
ABOUT THE OPPONENTS
Tulane enters with a 16-8-1 record after they went 2-1 last weekend against Dayton. The Green Wave are led offensively by Ethan Groff who paces the team in batting average, home runs, doubles, total bases, runs scored and stolen bases.
This will be the second attempt at playing the Ragin' Cajuns who are 11-12. Louisiana picked up a big series win against South Alabama over the weekend after taking the series finale 6-3. Carson Roccaforte has an 1.117 OPS this season with seven homers and 31 RBI.
