Privateers Set for First Conference Road Weekend at HBU

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers baseball team (14-9) will play their first conference road weekend when they travel to Houston to face the HBU Huskies (8-17). First pitch for the series opener is at 2 p.m. on Friday. All games this weekend will be broadcast on ESPN+.
 
PITCHING MATCH-UPS
FRIDAY: LHP-Tyler LeBlanc (UNO) vs. RHP-Daxton Tinker (HBU)
SATURDAY: LHP-Brandon Mitchell (UNO) vs. RHP-Jared Burch (HBU)
SUNDAY: RHP-Collin Horton (UNO) vs. RHP-Will Ripoll (HBU)
 
NOTES
-The Privateers will start the series on April 1. All-time, New Orleans is 21-18 on April Fools Day and won 5-4 in their game on the first day of April in 2021 against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
-New Orleans has dominated the all-time series with a 14-5 mark against the Huskies. The Privateers swept a four-game series against HBU last season.
-Anthony Herron Jr. provided the second consecutive game by a Privateer with at least five RBI when he accomplished the feat on Tuesday against Tulane. Jeissy De la Cruz had a five-RBI game on Sunday vs. Northwestern State.
-After the win against Tulane, the Privateers have gone to 7-0 at home against the Green Wave under Blake Dean. New Orleans has scored 67 runs in that time span.
-The next home run by Pearce Howard will put him into the top 10 in program history in that department. Howard is currently fifth in hits, tied for seventh in RBI and tied for seventh in doubles.
-Privateer baserunners have been collectively successful in the last 10 steal attempts. A Privateer has not been caught stealing since Mar. 12 vs. Youngstown State.
 
ABOUT THE OPPONENT
HBU won their opening conference weekend as they took two from McNeese. The Huskies are under the direction of 15-year Major League veteran, Lance Berkman.
 
Parker Edwards has 19 hits and a .380 batting average. 12 of Edwards' 19 hits have gone for extra bases this season. Austin Roccaforte is hitting .274 and has drawn 20 walks to just nine strikeouts.
 
The Huskies have played just nine of their first 25 games at home this season and are 3-6 in their own park.
