NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers have a tall midweek task ahead against a hot squad when they face the #6 ranked Southern Miss Golden Eagles on Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Pete Taylor Park.
NOTES
-The Privateers and Golden Eagles played once earlier this season at Maestri Field. New Orleans raced out to a 6-3 lead early but Southern Miss came back and won the game 12-8.
-New Orleans heads into the week tied for first in team batting average (.283). New Orleans is also second in the conference in runs scored at 244.

Amani Larry and
Kasten Furr have combined for 80 runs scored this season. Respectively, they hold the top two spots in the Southland in runs scored.
-Southern Miss is the second nationally ranked team the Privateers will face this season. Their first game against LSU on Mar. 2 came when the Tigers were ranked #7 in the nation.

Travis Gober has collected 13 hits in his last eight games. He went 5-for-10 in the series against Southeastern. Gober has bumped his average up to .313 and has 22 RBI on 25 hits this season.

Issac Williams has picked up a hit in four straight games and culminated with a three-hit day on Saturday against the Lions. Williams raised his batting average 29 points after the Southeastern series.
ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Southern Miss has been on a tear, going 13-1 since the first meeting against the Privateers. The Golden Eagles swept FIU on the road last weekend and outscored them 23-11.
The Golden Eagles rank second in the nation in team ERA at 2.78. They're also in the top ten in hits allowed per nine innings, strikeout-to-walk ratio and WHIP. Christopher Sargent has 11 home runs this season to lead the offense. Slade Wilks and Dustin Dickerson have combined for 26 doubles this season.
In his tenure, Scott Berry is 16-3 against the Privateers.
