NEW ORLEANS – Privateer baseball (19-15, 6-6 Southland) returns to Maestri Field and Southland Conference play when they host the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders (18-20, 4-6 Southland) this weekend.

Blake Dean's stint at UNO have been decided by one or two runs, with the Privateers winning eight of those games.
ABOUT THE OPPONENT
The Islanders travel to New Orleans coming off an 8-5 midweek victory at PrairieView A&M. Last weekend they lost two-of-three at HBU. Corpus-Christi dominated the first game 17-3, before falling 5-3 and 11-5 in the final two games at Chapman Field.
The Islanders are hitting .278 as a team – third best in the Southland. They are tops in the league with a slugging percentage of .448 and have hit Southland-best 37 home runs.
Brendan Ryan leads the way with a .376 batting average, an on-base percentage of 1.022 and 61 total bases. Jon Maldonado Jr, Tre Jones, and Max Puls all hit over .300 for Corpus Christi.
On the mount the Islanders have a 5.14 ERA – fourth best in the league, and opponents are hitting .277 against them. Corpus Christi has given up just 23 home runs this season, the second fewest in the league, and only 104 extra base hits.
Hayden Thomas has been constant on the mound for the Islanders with a team-high 46.2 innings pitched. Thomas has a record of 4-2 this season with a 4.86 ERA. He's struck out 41, and opponents are hitting .272 against him.
