NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers (27-21) will close the regular season slate on Tuesday when they face the Southern Jaguars (21-28) at Maestri Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
NOTES
-The Privateers are the 3-seed in the Southland Tournament which will be coming up this Thursday. New Orleans will make the short trip to Hammond and face 6-seed HBU in the first round.

Amani Larry finished conference play as the leader in on-base percentage. He was also in the top five in batting average, runs scored and RBI. Larry also led the team with 16 stolen bases and ranked eighth in the conference.

Kasten Furr ranks 25
th in the nation in runs scored and leads the conference in that category. Furr has scored 60 runs. That's the highest run total in a single season since 2008 when T.J. Baxter and Joey Butler tied for the team lead with 77 runs each.

Pearce Howard is three RBI from tying and four from breaking the program's career record set by Brian Traxler. Coming into the week, Howard is at 203 career RBI after he picked up four over the weekend against Northwestern State.
-This weekend, the Privateers will also be joined by Southeastern and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the four-team bracket for the first weekend of the Southland Tournament.

Issac Williams slugged .702 against Southland opponents, the third best in conference only games this season. Williams had eight home runs in conference play and hit his first career grand slam on May 13 against Northwestern State.
ABOUT THE OPPONENT
The Southern Jaguars swept Prairie View last weekend to move into first place in the Western Division of the SWAC. This season, Southern is 11-5 at home but just 10-23 away from Lee-Hines Field.
Chris Crenshaw is in his second season as head coach of the Jaguars after taking over in 2021. Crenshaw was previously an assistant coach at Southern (two years) and Jackson State (five years).
O'Neill Burgos leads the Jaguar offense in batting average, doubles, home runs, RBI and slugging percentage. Burgos is hitting .325 with 14 doubles, seven home runs and 48 RBI in 45 games (44 starts) this season.
