NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers women's tennis team debuts a brand new squad this weekend in Natchitoches when they take part in the Lady Demon Collegiate Invitational. The two-day event starts Friday at the Jack Fisher Lady Demon Complex.
A highly successful senior class of seven finished their last matches on the court for the Privateers in 2022 and it is now a team of seven newcomers. The only returner from last season is
Tristanne Dechoux who was unable to play last year due to injury.
Two newcomers have transferred in from fellow Division I schools.
Audelia Morin Kougoucheff transfers from FIU. The Florida native was ranked in the top 35 in the state of Florida and top 200 nationally in juniors.
Anastassia Kouchnareva played across four different flights for Stephen F. Austin. In her first collegiate season, Kouchnareva finished with a record of 12-6 in singles and earned Second Team All-WAC honors last spring.
Five freshmen dot the roster:
Laurie Barendse,
Diane Bredberg Canizares,
Kateryna Kalistratova,
Raluca Puscas and
Ksenia Reznitskaya.
This weekend will set off a fall schedule that involves four tournaments including the ITA Regionals. The Privateers will stay within the state as they host Nicholls on Oct. 7 and travel to Louisiana from Nov. 4-6 to close out the fall slate.
