Privateers Head to Lake Charles to Face McNeese

SERIES NOTES

NEW ORLEANS
– The New Orleans Privateers take the turn to the second half of their Southland schedule when they open a three-game series at the McNeese Cowboys. First pitch for the series opener is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday.
 
The Privateers are coming off an 8-6 loss to the Tulane Green Wave on Tuesday. 12 of the 14 runs scored in the game were within the first two and a half innings. Kasten Furr had a three-run homer to lead the offensive effort for New Orleans.
 
Through four weeks, the Privateers are 6-6 in conference play. The top six teams are separated by two games heading into week five of Southland play. UIW leads the league at 8-4. The top seven teams will make the conference tournament.
 
The Privateers swept the Cowboys last season at Maestri Field. It was the second consecutive season series New Orleans won against McNeese since joining the Southland. Prior to that stretch, the Cowboys were 20-1 against the Privateers from 2014-21.
 
The Privateers are slashing .322/.420/.525 in 19 day games versus .255/.361/.456 in 18 night games. New Orleans is 12-7 during the day and 9-9 at night.
 
The Privateers have scored 54 first inning runs this season. In the first three innings of games, New Orleans has scored 149 runs this season.
 
Over his last four appearances, Ryan Delorbe has allowed just two hits and a walk, spanning five innings. Delorbe also has seven strikeouts in that stretch.
 
McNeese is coming in with the same exact record (6-6) as the Privateers in conference play. The Cowboys are 24-12 overall. They have made a living on taking extra bases this season with 88 steals in 98 attempts. That total ranks 10th in the country.
 
Grant Rogers has been a force at the front of the weekend rotation with an 8-0 record and a 1.96 ERA. He co-leads the country in wins and is 13th in the nation in ERA among all qualified pitchers.
