NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers will start the week with a road trip to Mississippi to face the Jackson State Tigers on Tuesday night at Braddy Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
New Orleans (15-13) lost two-of-three to Northwestern State over the weekend. The Privateers got five hits from
Kasten Furr over the last two days while
Mitchell Sanford drove in six runs in the series and nine for the week.
Sanford leads the team in RBI with 29 after he drove in nine runs over four games last week. In 12 opportunities with a runner on third and less than two outs, Sanford has driven in a run 11 times.
Furr leads the team in runs with 28 and is fourth in the Southland in that category. Heading into the week, Furr has 145 runs in 148 career games. He's 24 away from reaching the top ten in program history in that category.
As a team, New Orleans is hitting .391 with the bases loaded (18-of-46) this season.
Tyler Bischke and
Issac Williams co-lead the team with the most hits with the bases full at four each.
Heading into the week, the Privateers lead the Southland in the following catetgories: home runs (37), runs scored (206) and slugging percentage (.465).
New Orleans faced Jackson State in the Andre Dawson Classic and the Tigers won a low-scoring game by a 3-0 margin. The Privateers are 66-15-1 all-time against Jackson State.
Jackson State (16-9) won two-of-three over the weekend against Mississippi Valley State. Through nine SWAC games, the Tigers are 3-6. This season, Jackson State has drawn the 14
th-most walks in the country at 167.
Ty Hill is in the top 25 in the nation in batting average, doubles and on-base percentage. Hill is hitting .432 with 12 doubles this season.
