GAME NOTES: NEW ORLEANS | EVANSVILLE
NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers will take to the field for a tough three-game series starting on Friday against the Evansville Purple Aces. First pitch of the series opener is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. All three games will be on ESPN Plus and the series opener will also be carried on NASH Icon 106.1 FM.

The Privateers (2-2) fell behind early and could not recover in a 15-10 loss to Southern Miss in their first mid-week game on Wednesday. New Orleans did score double-digit runs on the Golden Eagles for the first time since 2005 in the loss.
Miguel Useche and
Diego Villescas have combined to see 160 pitches in 35 plate appearances. Useche has seen 56 percent of pitches out of the zone while Villescas has seen 53 percent. Useche has seen 88 pitches in 18 plate appearances and is 13
th in the nation in walks.
Mitchell Sanford had his seventh game of three or more RBI as a Privateer when he hit a three-run home run in Wednesday's game against Southern Miss. Sanford has 65 RBI in his career (63 games) with the Privateers.
Caleb Seroski will start the Sunday game as he did in Week 1 against Georgia State. Seroski had his longest shutout outing of his career when he kept Georgia State off the scoreboard for 5.0 innings on Sunday. His previous long was 4.2 shutout innings (Apr. 30, 2022 vs. Nicholls).
The Privateers and Purple Aces have played six times with all of the meetings taking place in New Orleans. The two teams have split the games evenly with the series tied at 3-3.
ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Evansville (3-1) returned seven position player starters from last year's team that won 37 games and nearly made the NCAA Tournament. They lost in the Missouri Valley Championship game against Indiana State in 2023.
Wes Carroll is no stranger to the Big Easy though his team will come here for the first time in 24 years. Carroll was here as a player when the Privateers and Purple Aces last played in 2000. He also played one season with the AAA New Orleans Zephyrs when they were the Washington Nationals affiliate.
Evansville has hit .331 through the first four games of the year and won a series against Oral Roberts who went to the College World Series in '23.
