FINAL RESULTS (GolfStat) | DAY ONE RECAP
ALGIERS – Transfer student Matt Weber finished in third place in his Privateer debut, just like his team finished in third place at this year's Gulf Coast Collegiate in swirling and gusty winds at English Turn Golf and Country Club.
The redshirt junior made birdies on four, six, and 12 to finish his third round at even par and move up from fourth to third on the leaderboard. Over 54 holes Weber averaged 4.50 on par five holes, sank eight birdies, and made an eagle during the second round of his Privateer debut.
Veteran Ryan Fulton moved twenty spots up the leaderboard on Tuesday afternoon - from 27th to 7th. Ryan finished his final round with a score of 70 on his way to the third top-10 finish of his career at UNO. Four of Fulton's ten birdies at the tournament came this morning, and out of 92 golfers competing he was one of just two to shoot under par during the final round.
Kyle Bennett also moved up two places - from 18th to 16th – after shooting 76 during round three. Like Fulton, Bennett co-lead New Orleans with 10 birdies over three rounds. His best stretch of round three came with birdies on holes two, four, six, and nine leaving him with a 2-under-par front nine.
Thomas Artigas finished tied for 28th with a score of 231, while Mason Roberts finished tied for 62nd after carding a 239.
For the first time New Orleans played five independents – George Trappey finished tied for 55th after shooting a 237, Taylor Boasberg finished tied for 60th after shooting a 238, Gabriel Gallego finished tied for 70th after shooting a 241 – including a hole-in-one on Monday, Canon Clark finished tied for 74th after shooting a 243, and Zachary Asaro finished tied for 88th after shooting a 260.
The Memphis Tigers took home the team championship with a score of 880, with Tiger Diego Lourenco taking home the individual crown after shooting 216.
New Orleans returns to action on March 4-5 when they travel to Sweetwater Country Club in Sugar Land, Texas for the 2024 edition of the Colin Montgomerie Invitational hosted by HCU.

HEAD COACH JEFF LORIO
"It was great to get back hosting an event in the city of New Orleans! I would like to thank English Turn Country Club for their wonderful hospitality this week. From coaches to players to spectators, everyone seemed to enjoy the last few days"
(on the conditions)
"English Turn sure showed its teeth the last two days. The course played firm and fast and with the windy conditions, it was absolutely a difficult challenge. I thought we handled those conditions a lot better today than we did yesterday. We gave up too many big numbers yesterday and that really put us in a deep hole. Credit to the guys, they fought extremely hard today and worked their way up the leaderboard."
"We must use this week as a learning experience and grow from the mistakes we made on day one. No doubt, we have a talented squad but to accomplish the goals set in place, we must stop making the same mental mistakes that lead to the big numbers."
"We will break down this event tomorrow and start working on getting ready for the Colin Montgomerie next Monday and Tuesday."
(on Matt Weber's UNO debut)
"I'm super proud of Matt and his debut as a Privateer. He has been super consistent since he arrived on the Lakefront and I firmly believe he has the game to win at this level. I know he will continue working hard and keep knocking on the door until it opens."
