NEW ORLEANS
– The New Orleans Privateers conclude their early season home stretch this weekend when they take on the Alabama A&M Bulldogs in a three-game series at Maestri Field. The series starts on Friday with a scheduled first pitch of 6:30 p.m. All three games will be carried on ESPN Plus.

This weekend concludes a stretch to open the season where the Privateers (4-4) played 10 of their first 11 games at home. New Orleans is 4-3 in their first seven home contests including series wins against Georgia State and Evansville.

Heading into the weekend, the Privateer pitching staff has the third best strikeout-to-walk ratio in the Southland. As a staff between Cortez Dennis, Chris Olivier and Nathan Blasick the Privateers had eight strikeouts to two walks.

Issac Williams hit his 20th home run of his career against Tulane. Williams is seven homers away from entering the top 10 in program history in career home runs. It was also his second career homer at Tulane.

These will be the first meetings between the two sides on the diamond in program history. Last season, the Privateers had an 8-1 record against the SWAC that included wins over Alabama State, Southern, Jackson State and Mississippi Valley State.

ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Alabama A&M (2-6) won their regular season opener when they beat Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The Bulldogs also have a win over Stillman. Tristan Curless is on a stretch of four straight games with two or more hits. He leads the offense in hits, RBI and total bases.

Elliott Jones is in his fourth season as head coach of Alabama A&M. Jones played at Southern and was an assistant coach at Southern and Grambling prior to coming to AAMU.
