NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers will welcome back baseball alums and honor their two College World Series teams from 1974 and 1984 ahead of this weekend's series against the Memphis Tigers. First pitch for the series opener is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

The Privateers held Mississippi State in check through 11 innings but fell on the short end of a 2-1 loss. It was the fewest runs the Privateers allowed against the Bulldogs in the last 20 meetings dating back to 1995.
The combination of
Ryan Delorbe,
Nathan Blasick and Kyrin Long have been tough in late and close situations. They combined for 4.0 scoreless innings against Mississippi State. This season, they've combined to allow just 15 hits in 28.2 innings pitched.
Collin Loupe has reached base in 12 consecutive games entering the weekend after he collected two hits against Mississippi State. Loupe has an on-base percentage of .500 in 20 career games (10 starts).
Opponents lately have had a hard time running against the Privateers. Through the first nine games, opponents attempted 15 stolen bases. In the last nine games, opponents have attempted only three stolen bases.
Blake Dean will be facing a familiar face in the opposite dugout in Matt Riser. The two coached against each other when Riser was at Southeastern and faced off in 28 games. Last season, Dean's Privateers swept Riser's Lions. Riser leads the series between the two 17-11.
ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Memphis (9-10) got back on track after enduring a five-game losing streak. The Tigers won a pair of midweek games as they beat North Alabama and Arkansas State. The Tigers put up 29 runs in the two wins.
Pierre Seals and Jacob Compton have combined for 14 of the team's 33 home runs this season. The Tigers also have 35 stolen bases through their first 19 games. Northwestern State transfer, Daunte Stuart is hitting .303 with 18 RBI, second most on the team.
