FINAL RESULTS (BIRDIE FIRE) | DAY ONE RECAP

Austin, Omaha, Texas A&M-Commerce, Texas Southern, Nicholls and North Dakota on Tuesday afternoon at the Colin Montgomerie Invitational.
Bennett finished with a score of 207 after rounds of 69, 67 and 71 on Sweetwater Country Club's Pecan Course. Kyle became the first University of New Orleans golfer to finish all three rounds of a 54-hole tournament under par since his brother Brady did it in back-to-back tournaments to open the 2021-2022 season.
The Zachary native finished third in the field on par 5 holes with an average of 4.33, fourth in the field in birdies made with 16, and fifth in the field on par 4 holes with an average of 3.90. He set a new career low for 54 holes, a one stroke improvement from his effort earlier this season at the Derek Dolenc Invitational.
Newcomer Matt Weber continued his solid start to his Privateer career with rounds of 69, 74 and 72 tying him for 21st place. Weber was the only Privateer besides Bennett to shoot par or better on Tuesday afternoon with four birdies offsetting bogeys on three and 13, and a double bogey on five.
Ryan Fulton finished tied for 37th with a 218, Maxmilian Wojciechowski finished tied for 54th with a score of 223, and Thomas Artigas finished tied for 63rd with a score of 225.
UNO finished with the second-most made birdies in the field – 58, including 15 during the final round.
As a team, New Orleans now has 10 rounds below par through 21 rounds played this season. The 2007-2008 squad compiled a school record 11 rounds below par over 32 rounds 16 seasons ago. As a squad the Privateers are averaging 287.3 strokes per round – on pace to break the school record by two strokes.
New Mexico Junior College won the event by a single stroke over Missouri State and Weber State with a score of 847. Houston's Jacob Borow won the individual crown with a score of 200, four strokes ahead of Tarleton State's Max Bengtsson.
