The Privateers rallied for a thrilling victory in the series finale against the UIW Cardinals on Saturday to close the second week of conference play. New Orleans scored five runs in the ninth inning capped off by a Maika Niu walk-off single in a 10-9 decision. It was the third game this season the Privateers have won when trailing after eight innings.

New Orleans (16-11) won their first meeting against South Alabama in Mobile 7-5. The Privateers broke through with a two-run single by Alexander Saunier in the eighth inning. After adding an insurance run in the ninth inning, Kyrin Tyson-Long nailed down the save.

The Privateers have won back-to-back games against South Alabama for the first time since 2009 after they won the second meeting last season. New Orleans has won 63 games in the all-time series against the Jaguars.

New Orleans drew 11 walks as a team in the win, which was a single-game high. This season, the Privateers have drawn 148 free passes which ranks second in the conference only behind Nicholls and 50th in the nation entering the week.

Bryce Calloway had a strong week at the plate to help lead the Privateer offense which scored 34 runs in their three victories. Calloway drove in eight runs over four games and also picked up his first win on the mound in the series finale against the Cardinals. Calloway is hitting .311 with three homers and 17 RBI.

Saunier has been on a tear lately since his pinch hit go-ahead home run against Nicholls on Mar. 23. In four games since then, Saunier went 7-for-12 with six RBI and had a pair of three-hit games against Southern and UIW.
