Alexandra Weir Wins Again, Privateers Set Eight Personal Bests in Baton Rouge

FINAL RESULTS (DELTA TIMING) | FINAL RESULTS (TFFRS)

NEW ORLEANS – Alexandra Weir won another race and the University of New Orleans track and field team set eight more personal bests on a successful time at LSU's Alumni Gold meet on Saturday.

Weir won the women's 1500 in 4:28.45. With that finish, the Toronto native now owns eight of the top ten outdoor 1500-meter times in school history. It was her second win outdoors at 1500 meters this season and her third victory outdoors in 2024. She has won races in three of the Privateers' five meets she has competed in this season.

Weir was not the only successful student-athlete for New Orleans in the women's 1500. Rebecca DeKay finished right behind her in second place with a time of 4:29.62, Agnes Danner finished 15th with a time of 4:47.07, and Ida Danner set a new personal best with a 16th place finish in 4:49.34.

Trinity Bracey set a pair of personal bests on Saturday afternoon. Bracey's time in the women's 400 of 54.55 placed her 13th out of 37 competitors and was an almost two-second improvement on her previous best set at last season's Bobcat Invitational. It was the second-fastest time in school history and ranks No. 7 in the Southland Conference.

Bracey also set a new personal best in the women's 200 with a time of 24.12 - good for tenth in the Southland this season.

Darryl George Jr. was also outstanding in the men's 400, setting a new personal best with a time of 48.12. That time moves him to sixth place on the school's all-time performance list and ranks No. 9 in the Southland Conference this season.

Kelton Brookins finished ninth in the men's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 55.87 - another Privateer personal best. The mark currently ranks No. 6 in the Southland Conference.

Evan Pardo finished his men's 1500-meter race in seventh place with a time of 3:53.42. It was a new personal best and a four-second improvement on his efforts two weeks ago at the Joe Walker Invitational. His efforts on Saturday place him fifth on the school's all-time performance list and No. 6 in the Southland Conference this season. Antonio Delgado also set a new personal best in the event, finishing in 4:25.36.

Rounding out the personal best train for New Orleans was Christian Francisco, who finished his 800 meters in 1:54.26.

New Orleans returns to action next week when a selection of Privateers will return to Austin, Texas for the Texas Invitational on April 26-27.

WE ARE YOUR KREWE

And much like a Mardi Gras parade krewe, we are tethered to our community through pride, tradition, a culture of acceptance, and finally our commitment to show that New Orleans is a world-class city to live, learn, play, and work. We invite you to become more involved with the only University that truly represents New Orleans all day, every day.  Join #NOLAsTeam, We Are Your Krewe!
