Useche Earns Second Southland Hitter of the Week of 2024 Season

FRISCO, Texas – For the second time this season, Miguel Useche earned the Jersey Mike's Southland Conference Hitter of the Week award which was announced by the Southland office on Tuesday afternoon.

Useche went 7-for-16 at the plate this week, which translates to a .438 batting average. He also sported a .500 on-base percentage while helping the Privateers to a 3-1 record including a midweek win against Tulane and two wins at Northwestern State.

On Friday, Useche was a big part of the Privateers' 18-run output in the series opener against the Demons. He went 3-for-4 with a home run and six RBI, the most by a Privateer in a single game this season.

He followed that up by going 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs as the Privateers piled on 14 more runs in a Saturday win at Northwestern State to clinch the series.

Last week, Useche collected his 49th career double, which moved him into a tie for fourth place on the career doubles list with Brian Traxler, who holds the record by a Privateer for most career home runs. He is one double away from moving to a tie for third with program hits and RBI leader, Pearce Howard.

Useche earned his second Southland Hitter of the Week award this season. He also got it in Week 6 when he went 7-for-17 with four doubles and nine RBI in a sweep over Nicholls and a midweek win against Jackson State.
