CARROLLTON, Ga. – The New Orleans Privateers baseball team will open their 2025 campaign with a four-game series against a new Division I squad when they take on the West Georgia Wolves. First pitch for the season opener is Friday at 3 p.m. followed by a Saturday doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. and a Sunday finale at noon.

A new era begins with 
Dax Norris taking over as head coach, a move that was announced in January after Blake Dean resigned to take a job in the private sector. Norris is in his fourth season with the team after spending the first three as pitching coach.
 
The 2023 and 2024 pitching staffs under Norris have both produced top 10 seasons in program history in strikeouts. Norris has also coached an All-Conference pitcher every season (
Tyler LeBlanc-2022, Brandon Mitchell-2023, and 
Colton Mercer (2024).
 
Grant Edwards started every weekend for the Privateers and made 15 starts in all. In his first season on the Lakefront, he won five games and had 67 strikeouts in 73 innings.
 
Tristan Moore returns after a year in Houston. Moore had a highly successful first stint with the Privateers in 2023. He hit 19 homers and drove in 55 runs while earning Southland Hitter of the Year and ABCA Second Team All-Region honors.
 
The Privateers have 24 newcomers counting the return of 
Tristan Moore for his second stint on the Lakefront. 15 of those are high school or JUCO signees and nine came directly from other NCAA schools (eight Div. I and one Div. II).
 
ABOUT THE OPPONENT
West Georgia is in their first year in the Atlantic Sun after competing in the Gulf South Conference (Div. II). Last season, they went 23-27. One of the leading returners for the Wolves offense is Patrick McCullough who hit .349 and had a .587 slugging percentage.
 
Cooper Prince also returns for West Georgia after leading the team in batting average at a .371 clip. He had 66 hits and drew 36 walks last season. As a team, West Georgia hit .289 last season.
 
Seth Dudley is one of the leading returners on the mound. He started 15 games and threw a complete game against Mississippi College on Apr. 19. He finished last season with a 5-4 record and a 5.45 ERA.
