NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The New Orleans Privateers baseball team dives into conference play starting this weekend against the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks. Game times are at 6:00, 3:00 and 1:00 p.m. at Jaycees Field.
The Friday game will be carried on 106.1 FM The Ticket. The Friday and Sunday games will be on ESPN+.

New Orleans is fresh off a dominating performance against South Alabama. The Privateers won 13-2 and the bullpen allowed no hits in 4.2 innings. For the first time in program history (165 meetings), the Privateers had back-to-back run rule wins against South Alabama after a 13-2 victory on Tuesday. The 11-run win was the largest margin of victory over the Jaguars since 1997.
The Privateers have hit 11 home runs through their first seven games and the seventh inning has been the sweet spot for the long ball. As a team, New Orleans has hit six of their 11 home runs in the seventh which included back-to-back homers from
Bryce Calloway and
Collin Husser at South Alabama.
Through the first seven games of the season, the Privateers are hitting .322 as a team through the first seven games. That total ranks 33rd in the nation.
Bryce Calloway leads the team with a .500 batting average.
After turning a double play on Tuesday, the Privateers have eight twin killings in the field. That ranks 24
th in the nation entering the weekend.
These will be the first meetings between the Privateers and Lumberjacks since 2021 after Stephen F. Austin rejoined the conference this year. New Orleans leads the all-time series 8-7. Of the 15 meetings, 10 have taken place in Nacogdoches.
ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Stephen F. Austin lost their midweek game 9-4 to Baylor. The Lumberjacks swept Arkansas-Pine Bluff in a four-game series last weekend. Templeton and Mulcahy have combined for 24 strikeouts to five walks in 22 innings pitched.
Matt Vanderburg is in his first season at Stephen F. Austin after spending 16 seasons at West Texas A&M. He won 516 games there and took the Buffaloes to three Lone Star Conference championships and 10 NCAA Div. II postseason appearances.
