LIVE STAT RESULTS | PREVIEW
LAFAYETTE – The New Orleans Track and Field team competed in their first outdoor meet of the season with the McNeese Cowboy Relays in Lake Charles. The men won the 4x400 and there were two personal bests for
Tyler Mitchell (Men's Javelin) and
Christina Davis (Women's Shot Put).
Due to the threat of severe weather, the original meet the Privateers were heading to at Southeastern got cancelled. This did not deter the coaches from participating in a meet this weekend. Despite the short notice, they were able to find a meet with better weather in Lake Charles for the McNeese Cowboy Relays at the Bill and Lena Henning Track and Field Complex.
The Privateers were victorious in the Men's 4x400 relay. The combination of
Darryl George Jr.,
Jameel Williamson,
Tshilidzi Netshiombo, and
Travian Johnson ran a time of 3:15.25 to place first. The women's team also placed second in the Women's 4x800. Together,
Annika Metzger,
Emma Bourg, Oxana Bonjounr-Giros, and
Michela Papalia finished with a time of 9:28.63. The 4x800 is not a common race that New Orleans runs.
Two personal bests were recorded in field events. In Women's Shot Put,
Christina Davis had a best throw of 12.61m. This beat her last personal best by a little under 2 meters.
Tyler Mitchell also threw a personal best in the Men's Javelin with a throw of 44.87m.
There were two outdoor debuts on the field as well. Jace Phelan debuted in Men's Javelin with a 43.40m throw, and
Jamiryana Hall debuts in Women's High Jump with a jump of 1.45m.
