NEW ORLEANS – A bronze medal, a school record and 10 personal bests highlighted the University of New Orleans track and field team's performance at the 2025 Southland Indoor Championships.
Evan Pardo broke a school record for the second time this season and earned a bronze medal, finishing the men's 3,000 meters in 8:17.12. The senior broke Matthew Hansen's record of 8:17.26, set at last season's Southland Indoor Championships. It was also an improvement of more than nine seconds on his previous personal best, set at last season's Music City Challenge. He previously set the school's 5K record at the Music City Challenge on Feb. 14.
Annika Metzger scored eight points for the UNO women with a pair of fifth-place finishes Monday afternoon. Metzger finished the women's mile in 5:00.25, two seconds shy of her personal best and four seconds faster than her time in Sunday's preliminaries.
About 90 minutes later, she finished the women's 800 meters in 2:13.32, a personal best and the sixth-fastest time in school history. She now ranks fourth on the school's all-time performance list and has two top-10 times in school history at 800 meters.
Christina Davis started the day for the Privateers in the women's shot put. After fouling on her first two throws, Davis set a personal best with a throw of 12.24 meters. She finished second in her flight behind East Texas A&M's Cassandra Rendon but did not qualify for the finals. It was her second personal best at this year's Southland Conference championships after she finished the women's weight throw with a mark of 14.04 meters on Thursday.
Layden Jack,
Olga Skolasinska, Metgzer and Helel Baumgarten finished the 4x400-meter relay in 3:55.67, a top 10 time in school history and a season best for the UNO women.
Darryl George Jr.,
Jameel Williamson,
Tshilidzi Netshiombo and
Travian Johnson finished their 4x400-meter relay in 3:19.16, a season best for the UNO men and a time that puts the foursome seventh on the school's all-time performance list.
Both teams finished in 11th place: the men scored 20 points and the women 10. In addition to Pardo's bronze medal,
Daryl Bachmann (60M), Netshiombo (60M), Skolasinska (60H), Baumgarten (60H),
Kenneth Cerrato (800M), Metzger (800M),
