NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Track and Field program saw a wave of noteworthy performances and PRs this weekend at the Jim Mize Invitational hosted by Louisiana Tech. Favorable wind factors brought the total PR count to 20 for the Privateers. Performances from
Annika Metzger,
Madonna Favour,
Christina Davis,
Helen Baumgarten, and the Men's 4x100m team raise their placements on UNO's top performance lists.
The Privateers started the day strong on the field, where
Jace Phelan soared to a second-place finish in the men's javelin throw with a personal record-breaking throw of 52.07 meters. After a strong performance last week, Phelan kept his momentum by breaking the record he set last week by 1.13 meters, which cemented his place on the school's all-time performance list at #9. From his first collegiate throw in Lake Charles in March, he has increased his PR by nearly 9 meters!
Christina Davis also had a standout day on the field. She threw PRs in both of her events. She placed third in women's discus with a throw of 42.62 meters and claimed #7 on the school's all-time performance list in addition to that milestone. For women's hammer throw, Davis placed fourth by throwing the hammer 39.27 meters.
On the track, the men's 4x100m relay team, consisting of
Christopher Murphy,
Madonna Favour,
Darryl George Jr., and
Daryl Bachmann, smashed their previous season best with a 39.85 finish. This result breaks them into the top 50 D1 College Outdoor Rankings at 47. With this performance, these four are now the fourth top-performing team in school history for this event. They were previously placed eighth, earning that spot only three weeks earlier at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.
The men's team continued their strong performance on the track with the 100m and 200m. In the men's 100m, all six of the Privateers that competed placed in the top 20, with all sprinters either running a personal best or a season best. Sophomore
Darryl George Jr. sprinted to a top five finish; his PR placed him at #73 on the D1 College Outdoor Rankings. Freshman

th. Favour had a standout performance in the men's 200m. With favorable wind speeds, his third-place finish, clocking in at 20.74 seconds, places him at #2 on the school's all-time performance list in the event.
