Men's Tennis Draws Mississippi State in First Round of NCAA Championships

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers men's tennis team off their fantastic run in the Southland Championships found out on Monday evening they will be traveling to Mississippi State during the NCAA Selection Show.

The Privateers defeated three of the top four seeds during their run through the tournament which was capped off by a 4-1 victory over the NJIT Highlanders last Saturday. Southland Freshman of the Year, Julian Franzmann won the clinching point to send the Privateers to the NCAA Championships for the second time in school history.

The Privateers' last visit was in 2022 when they faced Florida in the first round. The Privateers faced a strong lineup that included current ATP #13 ranked Ben Shelton.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs are ranked 12th in the latest ITA rankings and made it to the SEC semifinals before falling to South Carolina 4-3.

A full preview will be released on Thursday ahead of the scheduled match on Friday at 1 p.m.
