LAKE CHARLES, La. – The New Orleans Privateers baseball team begins the second half of Southland play this weekend when they travel to Joe Miller Ballpark to face the McNeese Cowboys. First pitch for the series opener is scheduled for 6 p.m.

The Privateers (15-12, 7-8 SLC) are coming off a 20-9 win over Southern on Tuesday night. After falling into an early deficit, New Orleans rallied and took the lead for good in the fourth inning while parking four home runs.
Xavier Rivera and
Jake D'Altrui each had their first homers in a Privateer uniform.
A phenomenal season for
Bryce Calloway has garnered the senior utility man more recognition. He was named a Midseason All-American by D1Baseball. Calloway is hitting .383 with 10 home runs and has seven saves, which is tied for fourth most in the country heading into the weekend.
Collin Husser has three home runs in his last four games, which included a three-run shot on Tuesday against Southern. Of Husser's 21 hits collected this season, 11 have gone for extra bases (six doubles, five home runs). He also sports a .646 slugging percentage.
Bryan Loriga leads the team in multi-hit games after he added his 13th on Tuesday night. Loriga has eight games with two hits this season and five with three hits. He is hitting .371 in 105 at-bats in 2025.
The Privateers are 8-4 in the last 12 meetings against McNeese. New Orleans won two of three against the Cowboys at Maestri Field in 2024. McNeese leads the all-time series 39-30-1.
ABOUT THE OPPONENT
McNeese (20-5, 8-4 SLC) did not play last weekend. The Cowboys scored a 21-3 win in seven innings over Alcorn State in the midweek. Coming into the weekend, McNeese has an RPI of 35.
The Cowboys are one of five teams in the Southland hitting over .300. They also have the fewest strikeouts at the plate among all conference schools this season (169). Easton Dowell is hitting .413, which ranks third in the Southland. Connor Westenburg is fifth in the conference in runs (33) and leads the league in triples (5).
