NEW ORLEANS –
Bryce Calloway earned two more honors as he was named Perfect Game All-American and American Baseball Coaches Association All-Region after a stellar season both at the plate and on the mound.
Calloway started all 54 games in the Privateer lineup and hit .390 with 18 home runs, 10 doubles and 63 RBI. He led the Southland in the following categories: home runs, batting average, slugging percentage, RBI and saves.
His 11 saves were the fourth highest single-season total in program history and the most by a Privateer since Reeves Martin's record-breaking 14 in 2019.
Calloway turned it to another level in the Hammond bracket of the Southland Tournament. He went 7-for-12 at the plate with four home runs and seven RBI. He also picked up a save in all three wins for the Privateers that advanced them to the Southland Championship Series.
The .390 batting average is the 10
th highest single season total in program history. It is the second highest since 2000 only behind Michael Epping's .400 season in 2006.
Calloway has earned the following awards to date:
-First Team All-Southland
-Southland All-Tournament
-ABCA All-Region (First Team)
-Perfect Game All-American (Third Team)
Calloway becomes the first All-American selection since Martin accomplished the feat in 2019.
Calloway hit .358 with 27 home runs in his two seasons on the Lakefront, which both sit just outside the top ten in program history. His 13 career saves put him in a four-way tie for third place on the all-time list.
