NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers 2025 volleyball schedule has been released and it features a trip to Maryland, the return of the Pelican Invitational and four non-conference tournaments in total ahead of the Southland slate.
Ashley Preston, entering her fifth season at the helm, will guide a squad that has eight returners including the team's leader in kills and blocks (
Courtney Roundtree), digs (
Lani Alleman) and assists (
Defne Eciroglu). There are also nine newcomers who will join the squad this season.
The Privateers will open in-state with a trip down I-10 West to Lafayette for the Sawyer Camillo Classic beginning on Aug. 29. The Privateers will open the season against Tarleton State and play matches against Texas Southern and Louisiana.
Week two sees a visit to senior middle blocker,
Courtney Roundtree's home state as the Privateers head to Towson, Md. to take place in the Towson Tiger Invitational. The Privateers will face Towson, Kent State and Stonehill.
The third week of the season will see the Privateers host four SWAC schools at the HPC between Sept. 11-14 when they take on Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Southern, Grambling and Alabama A&M.
New Orleans and Tulane will face off on the volleyball court for the first time since 2021 when the teams battle in the Pelican Invitational, the last tournament before conference play begins. The Privateers will also host Providence and Alabama State.
Southland play begins on Sept. 25 when the Privateers play the Nicholls Colonels. Four of the first six conference matches will take place at the Human Performance Center.
Senior Day is on Nov. 8 when the Privateers take on Lamar at home. The regular season ends on Nov. 13 with a short trip to Thibodaux to face Nicholls ahead of the Southland Tournament.
This year's version of the tournament will take place in Commerce, Texas starting on Nov. 21.
