NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers baseball team will continue their opening road swing in the state capital when they head to Baton Rouge to take on Southern at Lee-Hines Field on Wednesday night. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m.
The Privateers were swept in the opening weekend of the season at Georgia State. The series finale came down to the end, but the Panthers pushed across the winning run in the eighth inning of a 5-4 decision after New Orleans rallied back from a 4-0 deficit to tie the game in the sixth.
The new look lineup for the Privateers saw several guys stand out at the plate and on the mound. Leading the way in the opening weekend was
Dylan Biddick who hit the first home run of the season on opening day for the Privateers. He went 5-for-11 and had a .600 on-base percentage.
Miles Curley and
Evan Rogers, both also new to the program, each hit .333 with a pair of RBI. They also each had a stolen base.
On the mound, a true freshman in
William Andrade struck out six batters over 3.1 innings in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday. The Metairie native won Pitcher of the Year at Holy Cross.
Karson Evans made his mound debut after patrolling the plate for most of 2025. Evans also got the start behind the dish on opening day. On the mound, Evans came in a tie game in the seventh with one out and got a fly out and a strikeout to keep the game level at 4-4.
The Privateers currently have a seven-game winning streak over Southern dating back to the 2021 season. New Orleans is 44-20 all-time against the Jaguars.
ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Southern (0-3) was also swept in their first series of the season. The Jaguars were outscored 36-6 over three games by Miami-Ohio at Lee-Hines Field. KJ White Jr. led the Jaguars in hits over the opening weekend with three.
