NATCHITOCHES, La. – Week four of Southland play sees the New Orleans Privateers stop in the City of Lights to take on the co-leaders in the Southland, Northwestern State in a three-game series. First pitch for the series opener is at 6:30 p.m.

The Privateers came out on the short end of a shootout on Wednesday night in a 17-12 loss to ULM. New Orleans scored in seven of the nine innings and collected 14 hits along with 11 walks.
Miles Curley had five RBI and landed a home run shy of the cycle.
New Orleans scored in double figures for the ninth time on Wednesday against ULM, but it was the first such game they lost this season. On the year, the Privateers have 165 runs which ranks second in the Southland. They also rank second in the conference in batting average at .295.
As a team, the Privateers are hitting .298 with runners in scoring position through 23 games. They've had 248 at-bats this season in those situations. Of the players with at least 10 at-bats with RISP, Curley has the highest batting average at .529 (9-for-17) in those scenarios.
This season, Privateer catchers have combined to tie the league lead for most runners thrown out on the base paths. New Orleans has caught 10 runners stealing, a number only matched by Nicholls. Their 27 percent rate of throwing runners out is second best in the league only trailing Southeastern (29.2 percent).
Lately, the road team has controlled the series between these two sides. The last five series between the Demons and Privateers have been won by the road team. The last time a home team won a series was in 2019 when Northwestern State went 2-1. The Demons were the last team the Privateers eliminated on their way to the Southland Championship Series in 2025.
ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Northwestern State is tied at the top of the league standings with a 6-3 mark. The Demons lost a 2-0 game against Tulane on Wednesday night in New Orleans. Northwestern State paces the Southland in team ERA (4.10) and has issued the second fewest walks of any staff at 73. Offensively, the Demons are third in the conference in home runs and slugging percentage.
