NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers baseball team will head to Jackson, Mississippi for the return trip against the Jackson State Tigers on Tuesday evening at Bob Braddy Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
The Privateers went 1-2 over the weekend against Northwestern State, falling in the series finale against the Demons 6-5. New Orleans nearly rallied back from a six-run deficit but the tying run was left on base in the ninth inning.
Dylan Biddick hit .474 in a five-game week against Tulane, ULM and Northwestern State. Biddick drove in six runs and had all three RBI in the Privateers' series opening victory against Northwestern State.
Biddick ranks top three in the league in doubles, on-base percentage and batting average heading into the week. He also ranks sixth in the conference in slugging percentage.
The Privateers are still maintaining as the second best hitting team in the league at a .289 batting average. They also have hit 43 doubles, which ranks fourth in the conference entering the week.
New Orleans defeated Jackson State 11-6 at Maestri Field on Mar. 3.
Kruise Newman hit a grand slam and
Jayden Adcox scored three runs.
Luke Hymel pitched 2.1 scoreless innings in the win.
The Privateers have won five of the last seven meetings against the Tigers dating back to 2023.
ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Jackson State (12-13) won their series against Prairie View by taking the last two games of the series including the Sunday game by a 15-4 margin. The Tigers are hitting .300 as a team entering the week. Tyree Reed is hitting .395 and Pierre Cabral leads the team in home runs (5) and RBI (26).
