Box Score UNO-LSUA Box Score
ALEXANDRIA, La. – The University of New Orleans won its third straight game, defeating LSU-Alexandria 6-5 on Friday night.
The win was the second in a row on the road for a UNO (4-2) team that has won both away contests on the season by the slimmest of margins – a single run.
Clint Coleman was 3-for-4 with two runs and three RBIs to lead the Privateers.
Dan Perkins added two more hits for a UNO squad that tallied seven in the contest.
As was the case earlier in the week in a victory at Mobile, the Privateers held off an attempt by their hosts to win the game in the final frame. LSUA (3-6) scored in their final at-bat after coming back from a 5-1 deficit earlier in the contest.
Four of the UNO scores in the game came in the sixth inning as the first three Privateers reached base on hits. Coleman singled in
Beau Boudreaux and Perkins for the first two runs. Seth Laigaist added two more RBIs when he doubled in Coleman and
Brandon Simon.
LSUA responded with three runs in their at-bat in the seventh inning, ending the night for UNO starter
Christian Cale. Cale improved to 3-0 by allowing four runs – none earned in light of four Privateer errors – on seven hits while striking out six.
The Generals would get their chance to win the game in the ninth against reliever
Kyle Blancaneaux. Blancaneaux yielded a single run and had the tying run on second before inducing a lineout to end the game.
The save was the second on the slate for Blancaneaux.
The series concludes on Saturday with a doubleheader scheduled for a 12 p.m. first pitch.
