UNO Baseball Win Streak Halted in 15-6 Loss to Spring Hill

Badgers Rally from Early 4-0 Deficit

Box Score NEW ORLEANS – Spring Hill rallied from an early 4-0 deficit to defeat the University of New Orleans 15-6 on Tuesday night at Maestri Field.

The win for SHC (9-5) snapped a five-game winning streak for UNO (6-3).

The Privateers scored four runs in the first inning, ruining the Homecoming for Badgers' starter  Daniel Pitfield, a product of Fontainebleau High School in Mandeville, La.  The early tallies against Pitfield came as UNO strung together four hits highlighted by a Clint Coleman two-run single and a two-run home run by Cameron Wheeless.

The Badgers answered in their next at-bat with four runs in the top of the second against Privateer starter Cory Hoffman, who was making his first collegiate start.

SHC went ahead in the fourth inning before Jonathan Coco provided an RBI single in the fourth to knot the scoring at five. The Badgers had their second offensive outburst of the game at that point, bringing 10 batters to the plate in the fifth inning and capitalizing on Privateer miscues in the field to take an 11-5 lead.

UNO would cut into the lead with a run in the bottom of the fifth, but would not score against the Badgers posted four more runs to their count by the end of game to produce the final margin of victory.

Kyle Blancaneaux (0-1) took the loss for the Privateers, who received two hits apiece from Dan Perkins, Beau Boudreaux and Wheeless. Wheeless added two runs and two RBIs on the night.

Brian Sims posted a 3-for-6 performance with three RBIs to lead Spring Hill. Ryan Cummings added two runs and three RBIs on a 2-of-6 effort from the plate.

Jack Howard (1-1) took the win after coming in for Pitfield at the start of the fourth inning. Howard departed the game with the six-run edge.
