CLEVELAND, Miss. - University of New Orleans catcher Stefan Farrell produced a pair of home runs and starting pitcher Jake Fabre pitched a complete game shutout in a 7-0 win victory over No. 16 Delta State on Sunday afternoon.

Farrell became the first UNO (14-21) hitter to have a pair of home runs in a contest since Cameron Wheeless against North Florida on May 19, 2011.

Farrell went 2-for-3 with four RBIs to join Jonathan Coco and Dan Perkins in giving the Privateers a combined 7-for-11 outing from the bottom three spots in the lineup. Coco was 3-for-4 with two runs in the No. 7 spot while Perkins contributed two hits in four at-bats from the No. 9 hole.

On the mound, Fabre (4-6) helped the cause by throwing the first UNO complete-game shutout since Brandon Kling defeated UALR 4-0 on Mar. 5, 2002. Fabre scattered five DSU (26-11) hits over nine innings of work while striking out two.

Fabre and opposing starting pitcher Josh Branstetter (2-3) both had success early in the game as neither team put a run on the scoreboard over the first four innings.

UNO would end the drought when Coco singled and later scored on a fielding error. Perkins added a second run on a Blake LeBlanc sacrifice fly as the guests jumped ahead 2-0.

Branstetter got in more trouble in the seventh when he allowed two more runs to the Privateers. The Statesmen starting pitcher excited after yielding four runs – two earned – on seven hits in 6.1 innings.

The last two runs against Branstetter came on Farrell's first home run, which also plated Brandon Simon and gave the visiting UNO baseball team a 4-0 lead.

In the eighth, the Privateers added to their tally when Beau Boudreaux came home on a Clint Coleman sacrifice fly. Farrell hit his second two-run home run in the ninth to score Coco and create the final score.

UNO is now 2-2 through four games on its 10-game trip away from home.

The Privateers will travel to McNeese State on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. before playing at Southern on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
