FLORENCE, Ala. - A home run by Jake Sloan in the seventh inning broke a tie and helped lift No. 19 North Alabama to a 5-3 victory over the University of New Orleans on Sunday afternoon at Mike Lane Field.

Sloan was 2-for-3 in the contest with a pair of RBIs as UNA improved to 34-12 on the season.

UNO (14-26) scored first in the game as Cameron Wheeless doubled in Blake LeBlanc in the third for a 1-0 lead. The Lions responded in the bottom of the inning with a two-out RBI triple by Michael Schmidt, one of two hits for the leadoff hitter.

UNA went ahead for the first time in the contest with two runs in the bottom of the fifth before the Privateers knotted the score in their next at-bat. Stefan Farrell's two-run double brought home Beau Boudreaux and Clint Coleman, who produced back-to-back one-out singles in the sixth.

Sloan followed with his game-winning solo blast in the seventh off of UNO starter Cory Hoffman (2-4).

Making the first weekend start of his career, Hoffman pitched a career-long seven innings. The left-handed senior allowed four runs on 10 hits before turning the ball to Cameron Glendinning.

The Lions added one more score off of Glendinning in the eighth, the junior's lone inning of work.

LeBlanc, Coleman and Farrell each had two hits apiece to lead the Privateers. Both hits by Farrell were doubles as the catcher extended his hitting streak to six games. LeBlanc and Coleman now have five and four-game hitting streaks, respectively.

Chad Boughner (9-2) threw his third complete game of the season in the win.  The UNA pitcher allowed three runs on nine hits while striking out 11 batters he faced.

UNO has now lost five in a row entering a Tuesday contest at 6 p.m. in Baton Rouge, La. against Southern. The Privateers' season concludes with a three-game home series against Tougaloo that begins Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Maestri Field.
