WINTER PARK, Fla. – The University of New Orleans men's tennis team dropped its second dual in four days to a nationally-ranked squad, falling 7-2 to No. 6 Rollins on Tuesday afternoon.
The doubles' tandem of
Ricardo Campos and
Hossam Meligy posted one of the two wins on the day for UNO (8-6). For the third time in a week, the duo dispatched a nationally-ranked duo with an 8-5 win over No. 10 Lucas Invita and Jason Alabaster.
Campos and Meligy's victories earlier in the week included positive results against the No. 8 and No. 14 duos in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings.
The other win for the Privateers over RC (14-6) came at the No. 4 singles' position where
Vinay Kamineni won a super-tiebreaker 6-4, 5-7, 10-8 over Ari Davis.
UNO nearly added another ranked win to their count when Meligy fell to No. 43 ranked Malte Christensen 7-5, 4-6, 10-2 at the No. 3 court.
The Privateer men's and women's teams will face Valdosta State on Wednesday at 2 p.m. VSU's men are ranked No. 5 in the most recent ITA ranking.
