Privateers Open Weekend with Loss at Central Arkansas

CONWAY, Ark. – New Orleans was held to a single run in an 11-1 loss to Central Arkansas on Friday night at Bear Stadium.
 
UCA (9-1) pitcher Caleb McClanahan (3-0) threw eight shutout innings, striking out five. The right-handed pitcher turned the ball over to Griffin Glaude, who allowed UNO (0-10) its lone score in the ninth.
 
The Bears tallied 10 hits in the game, plating their first run in the third before scoring four runs in the fifth. UCA continued to score in their remaining three plate appearances, putting a single run on the scoreboard in the sixth with two in the seventh and three final tallies in the eighth.
 
Blake Prest (0-3) took the loss on the mound for the Privateers, conceding six runs – four earned – on four hits while striking out five. Prest threw five innings before relief pitchers Kyle Blancaneaux and Nicholas Schiro made appearances on the mound.
 
The lone UNO hits in the game prior to the ninth inning came courtesy of a second inning single by Jonathan Coco and a fifth inning single by Morgan Barger. Zacary Hawkins and Brian Dixon both added singles in the ninth inning with Dixon's single plating Dan Perkins, who reached base on a two-out error.
 
UCA was led at the plate by Forrestt Allday and Michael Marietta. Allday was 2-for-4 with three RBIs with Marietta batting 2-for-3 with two runs and three RBIs.
 
The Privateers will return to action on Saturday at 12 p.m. against Wichita State. Live stats and radio will be available through the GoShockers.com web site. UNO will conclude the weekend on Sunday with a 1 p.m. contest against UCA.
