The University of New Orleans baseball team (13-4, 2-1 Southland) will be heading on the road for their first of three straight weekend series outside the Big Easy when they face the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks (9-9, 0-3) starting on Friday at Jaycees Field.

The Privateers had a third consecutive ranked opponent in the mid-week when they lost to LSU 9-4 on Wednesday. Chaz Boyer picked up three hits in the loss and Preston Marsh scored twice. UNO faced 10 Tigers pitchers on the evening.

"It was a tough mid-week game and one we'd like to have played a little better," said Coach Blake Dean. "We've got to tighten some stuff up and refocus. Our goal is to not get swept so hopefully we'll be able to get our momentum going."

Last season, the Privateers won their only conference series against Stephen F. Austin. In mid-March 2015, UNO took two of three games at home against the Lumberjacks including the series finale by an 8-3 score line. The Privateers will continue a road heavy month ahead as nine of their next ten games are away from New Orleans.

"They're a different team," said Dean of Stephen F. Austin. "They can swing the bat well. They got swept last weekend so they'll come in with a lot of fire and with something to prove. We just have to play our game and continue to get after them."

UNO will throw the same weekend rotation against the Lumberjacks. Shawn Semple will start the series on Friday after entering the week tied for sixth in the nation and second in the conference in strikeouts. Riley Hodge will start on Saturday and Jordan Priddle will close the series on Sunday.

The Lumberjacks will counter with right-hander, Jarred Greene on Friday. After that, the Lumberjacks will throw two southpaws: Eric Nouis gets the ball on Saturday and Patrick Ledet will get the starting call in the series finale. The three SFA weekend starters have combined to go 5-0 in their decisions.

By contrast, Stephen F. Austin has played most of their games on the road. The Lumberjacks have played just four games at Jaycees Field and are 3-1 in their park. The three wins have all come against Sacred Heart. Most recently, Stephen F. Austin split a mid-week series with Kansas State.

The Lumberjacks are looking to get back on track in conference play after getting swept by Central Arkansas on the road last weekend. Stephen F. Austin is third in the league in batting average, hitting .293 entering the weekend. Conner Fikes and Tyler Kendrick lead the team individually, each batting .407.

Season tickets for the 2016 campaign are available for as low as $125 and single-game tickets start at $5. For additional information, contact the UNO Athletics Ticket Office at (504) 280-GAME (4263) or click HERE.
