The Privateers will host Jackson State on Tuesday and Travel to LSU on Wednesday

NEW ORLEANS – Fresh off a 2-1 start to the season, the University of New Orleans will host Jackson State University Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Maestri Field before heading to a familiar foe – the old stomping grounds of third-year head coach Blake Dean – Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. when the Privateers visit nationally-ranked LSU (1-2) at Alex Box Stadium.

Live stats and video streams will be available on UNOPrivateers.com for both games. Wednesday's contest will be televised on SEC Network+ and WatchESPN. The voice of the Privateers baseball Emmanuel Pepis will have the call for both games.

ANDRE DAWSON CLASSIC
The Privateers are coming off a 2-1 showing in the Andre Dawson Classic/MLB Urban Youth Academy Invitational. UNO earned an opening day victory in extra innings over Illinois-Chicago 6-5, and closed out the tournament with a 14-3 win against Southern University. Offensively for the Blue and Silver, three players finished the tournament hitting .400 plus. Owen Magee led the charge with a .455 batting average and drove in two runs. Jacob McFadden followed suit, going 4-10 at the dish with a home run and three RBI on the weekend. Darren Willis matched McFadden's .400 clip and two ribbies.

ABOUT JACKSON STATE
Tuesday night will mark the first game of the season for the Tigers. Last year, UNO played Jackson State two times, the first going to UNO 16-2. In the second matchup, the teams tied on a game that was called due to weather.

ABOUT LSU
The Tigers faced Notre Dame on opening weekend falling to 1-2 in the early stages of the season. LSU is currently ranked #23/#21/#17/#9/#16 and all rankings are based on the D1 Baseball, NCBWA, Baseball America (Preseason), USA Today Coaches Poll (preseason), and Perfect Game USA, respectively. Last season, the Privateers faced the Bayou Bengals twice; defeating the then ranked No. 2 in the first meeting 11-8 and then sweeping the series with a 7-4 W in extras.

2018 marks the 10-year anniversary of Dean's First-Team All-America selection (Baseball America). Dean hit .353 with 18 doubles, three triples, 20 home runs and 73 runs batted in. He hit .328 in the SEC regular season with six doubles, one triple, six bombs and 25 ribbies.
