MIDWEEK WOES
The Privateers are coming of a pair of midweek losses at the hands of Jackson State (4-3) Tuesday and nationally-ranked LSU Wednesday (14-6). Offensively for UNO, the left side of the infield has impressed early on in 2018 with shortstop Darren Willis hitting .389 and third baseman Owen Magee batting .368. At Alex Box Stadium, Magee ripped a solo shot for his first home run of the season. Cody Ducote is leading the club with six ribbies.

ABOUT BALL STATE
The Cardinals are coming off 2-2 record in the Shipyard Classic with wins over UMass Lowell 8-5 and 4-3. Morehead State defeated Ball State 3-0 and 3-2.

William Baker leads the offense for the Cards' with a .625 batting average, two doubles and two stolen bases on the season. Griffin Hulecki follows with a .375 batting average.

On the bump for the Ball State will be John Baker, who struck out 10 in 5.0 innings last week. Despite the double digit strikeouts, he allowed three runs in the no-decision.

ABOUT VIRGINIA TECH
The Hokies finished their first weekend of baseball- the Coastal Carolina Tournament - with a 1-3 record. Virginia Tech's win came versus Big 12's University of Oklahoma 14-6.

Tom Stoffel is tops on the club with a .421 clip and three runs. Luke Horanski followed with a .400 batting average, two doubles, a home run and six RBI.

Dylan Hall (1-0) will receive the start Saturday. The right-hander struck out four and allowed six hits in 5.0 innings of work in the W over the Sooners.

ABOUT IOWA
The Hawkeyes are coming off a 4-0 record at the Diamond 9 Sunshine State Classic Series with wins against Toledo (4-3), Oakland (8-6) and Old Dominion (4-1).

The matchup against the Privateers on Sunday will mark the first time the teams have played since 1975. Iowa is 2-1 against UNO.

Right-hander Cole McDonald is the probable Sunday starter. He gave up seven hits and five runs in 3.0 innings against the Golden Grizzlies in the loss.
