This Week in New Orleans Athletics - Week 18

MEN'S BASKETBALL
The Privateers men's team will have two conference games on tap this week. It all starts on the second day of 2020 when New Orleans hosts Lamar on Thursday. The Privateers then welcome Stephen F. Austin on Saturday to the Lakefront Arena.
 
NOTES
-Troy Green is averaging 14.2 points per game and that number continues to click up. The junior guard poured in a career-high 22 points against Memphis and is averaging 19.0 points per game over his last four contests.
-Ahren Freeman provided a highlight reel dunk in his first collegiate start against the Tigers on Saturday. The true freshman has been very efficient from the field, connecting on 60.3 percent of his shots. In his last six games, Freeman is shooting 61.3 percent.
-Heading into the week, the Privateers are third in the Southland Conference in assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.10. Only Sam Houston State and Abilene Christian have higher ratios.
-Two Privateers (Green and Bryson Robinson) are shooting above 95 percent from the free throw line this season. New Orleans as a team, is hitting on 79.6 percent of their free throws, which would break a single season program record. Their free throw percentage currently ranks seventh in the country.
 
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
The Privateers return to Southland conference play after an impressive home victory over North Dakota on Saturday. The group is looking to capture its first conference win of the season as New Orleans travels to Lamar on Thursday and then returns home to the Lakefront on Saturday that will feature a celebration for Bruno's birthday party! Thursday's road contest will tip off at 7 PM CST while the Saturday showdown will get underway at 4 PM CST.
 
NOTES
-New Orleans outscored North Dakota 26-17 in the fourth quarter of their Saturday victory.
-Asia Woods has scored in double figures in six contests. Woods chipped in with 11 points and six boards against the Fighting Hawks.
-Rehema Franklin is tied for third in the league in scoring at 14.4 points per game. Only Breanna Wright (Abilene Christian) and Amber Leggett (Sam Houston State) are averaging more points per contest.
 
BASEBALL
The Top 50 in program history will be revealed starting the week of January 6, 2020. The reveal will be broken up by positions.
