Women Move Up to No. 12, Men Fall to No. 14 in Latest Regional Rankings

NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Orleans Women's Cross Country team moved up one spot to No. 12 while the Privateer men fell three spots to No. 14 in the latest South Central Regional rankings released by the United States Track & Field / Cross Country Coaches Association this week.

The Privateer women finished 15th at last week's Crimson Classic and were led by Tshwanelo Maruping's 45th place finish in 21:09.9. Alexandra Weir and Rebecca DeKay continued their trend of finishing together – Weir finishing in 64th with a new personal best of 21:24.9 and DeKay finishing in 68th with a time of 21:25.8. True freshman Emma Bourg finished in 80th in her first collegiate 6K with a time of 21:42.8 moving past thirty runners in the final 1,800 meters.

The Privateer men had a solid outing at the Crimson Classic as well finishing in 10th place overall. Evan Pardo paced the men's team with a personal best time of 24:44.5 – good for 33rd place overall. Three other UNO men finished inside the top-100 (Matthew Hansen – 58th, Cade Litolff – 87th, and Baptiste Depril-Dupre – 87th).

The UNO men have been ranked in 21 straight regional polls dating back to February of 2020, while the women have been ranked in 16 straight regional polls dating back to October of 2021. The Privateer men are one of four Southland schools ranked ahead of next week's Southland Championships (McNeese No. 9, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi No. 11, and Lamar No. 15). The women are the highest ranked Southland women's team, one spot ahead of No. 13 Lamar.

UP NEXT
Privateer Cross Country will head to San Antonio, Texas on Fri. Oct. 27 for the 2023 Southland Conference Championships at Windcrest Golf Club. The women will be looking to become the first UNO women's squad to collect back-to-back conference championships in school history, while the men are looking to improve on last season's program best third place finish. Fans can watch the races live on ESPN+ starting at 8:30 a.m.
